about

I’d much prefer for these introductions to happen across a table with some hot coffee or colorful food or something. Then I could listen to you for at least as long as you’re listening to me.

Since we’re not at the table, promise me you’ll find me in heaven if not sooner so we can have the other half of this conversation.

The most important thing for you to know about me is that I really love Jesus. My relationship with Him is real and raw and sweet. Better for the heartache and full of mystery—both the kind that leaves you in awe and wonder and the kind that leaves you with unanswered questions.

I was an intense student from kindergarten through college. I graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, with a degree in American Studies and in English/Professional Writing.

During and after college, I travelled broadly and worked with a number of local church and para-church ministries, enjoying an expanded view of the world in general and of the Body of Christ in particular.

For a number of years I served in student ministry at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, and then in a Hollywood ministry to women in the entertainment industry.

After fourteen years in California, we moved back to my hometown in Florida to raise our children near extended family. Besides enjoying family, we helped to plant a local church.

I’ve been homeschooling kids for eighteen years and counting. Occasionally I’ve taught co-op groups of writing classes and other random subjects. I’ve worked as a freelance writer and editor. And my other area of interest is the local women’s prison.

Other random tidbits:

  • I wrote songs for a while and recorded a demo back in the days of cassette tapes. Most of my music now is just me alone at the piano in the rare moments that I’m the only one at home. Or playing keyboard Sunday mornings at church, where my husband is the worship leader.
  • My happy place is in a canoe. Or walking in the woods.
  • I like to make herbal medicine, kefir, kombucha, and homemade pizza.
  • Ross and I have been married more than 25 years and have five daughters. We live in north central Florida.
